A Small Game At DragonCon

I had a TFT game on the DragonCon schedule last week - I was going to run the six-player For the Effigy of the Oil Wastes scanario. Disappointingly, only one player showed up.

Appointingly (well, that's the antonym, right? right?) the one who showed up was my good friend Hillbilly, who owns Melee but had only played it once, and he was definitely up for a teaching session. So we each took three of the scenario characters and had a nice little brawl, from which only one figure emerged. There were two instances of "run onto spear, take half your ST in damage, fall down, and never get up again." But neither of the spearmen made it out alive, either.

No, I don't think everyone has lost interest; I think that scheduling games via phone app is harder than it needs to be. As it worked out, both of us had a great time.

I like that scenario – it's a good teaching tool, and I've got a full set of miniatures so it's fun to watch too. I'll be taking it to Granite State Comic Con, Gamehole Con, and Big Bad Con.
